Heapco is fully qualified to City and Guild Standards for Electrical Installation, Testing and Inspection. We will complete a full electrical installation on a new structure, rewire older structures, fit new sockets and lighting circuits, replace consumer units, test and inspect an existing installation (called a Periodic Inspection Report).
As houses get older, so the wiring and fixtures can deteriorate. The 17th Edition Wiring Regulations BS7671 (2008) state that a domestic house should be inspected a maximum of every 10 years and at change of occupancy for electrical safety (this being protection against electrical shock and burns, fire and deterioration so as to impair safety), Agricultural and horticultural property should be tested more frequently, maximum every 3 years An inspection usually takes the form of a series of predefined steps, typically as follows: Visual inspection - Safety, wear and tear, corrosion, damage, age, excessive loading (overloading) Electrical Testing - Earth conductor continuity, polarity, earth fault loop impedance, insulation resistance, functional testing of isolating switches and Residual Current Devices. All results are recorded and certificates provided, detailing faults that need rectification immediately (life threatening), requires improvement (non life threatening), requires further investigation (due to time constraints or physical problems) and non compliance with BS7671 (items that do not comply with the regulations but are not necessarily dangerous)
All work is certificated and certificates are issued to the owner of the property. |
